Psychotherapy

*TEMPORARY NOTICE TO PAGE VISITORS*

Due to the immense sensitivity of this natural area of life,
we're taking the time to carefully and adequately complete this page with psychoeducational information and resources.

Though only a brief summary is below- the door to connect with
a specially trained therapist on this intimate subject is open and active.

Spiritual Abuse,
Religious Trauma & Sacred Space Trauma

Spirituality comes in many forms and are as unique as the people seeking it. Whatever your belief system and world view - this important area of human experience, has long been considered a positive resource for enlightenment, compassion, love and healing.

Spirituality, Religion and other holistic Sacred Spaces (secular or non), are the places we attend to connect, support and cope with the very real pain of life.

These places of worship, fellowship or community are expected to automatically provide unconditional acceptance, love and compassion for all members and belief systems involved.

We expect it to help us. We never expect to be emotionally or mentally injured here by others.

Many of us do. Many suffer silently.

Our Ethical Approach to Religious Trauma and Spiritual Abuse:

We are committed to the autonomy of all persons' belief systems and chosen lifestyles. Willow Rock Wellness is not a religious based counselling service (eg. Christian counselling) nor an alternative holistic wellness service, and in no way do we promote or encourage prescribed dogma of any kind.

We hold our clients in unconditional positive regard and commit to a stance of non- judgment, respect and inclusivity, as we do with all persons.

Psychotherapy can be useful to process your experiences within these communities on safe, non judgmental, 100% confidential ground.

Combined with a wealth of personal and family experience with these (at times) high control groups.

Our therapist continues to participate in a range of specialized training  and focused study on this emerging topic now known to adversely impact mental health and well-being.
